Helen L. (Cook) Wippel age 79, of Ashville, was called home to be with the Lord on Sat. Oct. 1, 2016 at Mount Carmel West Medical Center, Columbus. She was born on Sept. 17, 1937 in Spokane, WA to the late George and Ruth (Smith) Cook. From the time Helen was 10 years old the family lived in Orondo until 1950, then they moved to East Wenatchee. A graduate of Wenatchee H.S. in 1957 she moved to Richland, WA and worked for Prudential Insurance. She met Paul Wippel at a roller skating rink and he told her that Ohio was God’s country, very shortly after, they were married and moved to Ohio. Helen was a devoted member of Eastwood Seventh day Adventist Church in Westerville. She along with her husband Paul ran the Teays Valley Day Care for 23 years in Duvall and was involved in many other day cares such as Stepping Stones and Eastwood. Helen was also involved in Touching Little Lives, a non-profit charity organization which makes and distributes free of charge, handmade items to preemie and needy newborns in Ohio. She also participated in many church related missionary trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Mack and Larry Cook. Survived by her husband, Paul E. Wippel of 59 years; sons, Dale A Wippel of Orient, David A. Wippel of Duvall, and Daniel K. (Stephanie) Wippel of Ashville; grandchildren, Jeff (Heather) Wippel, Joseph (Beth) Wippel, Brandy (Eric) Maschhaupt, Rebecca (Nick) Yankovich, Tyler Wippel, Ricky Wippel, and Staci Wilson; 4 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, George Cook of WA., Carol Mullerleile Of WA., Frances Browning of WA. Margaret Shifflet of WA. , David Cook of OR., and Patti Zitting of WA.
Numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-laws, Ralph (Linda) Wippel and Roy Wippel.
Visitation will be from 4 -6 p.m on Wed. Oct. 5th, 2016 at the Eastwood Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6400 So. Sunbury Rd. Westerville, Ohio with a Funeral Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Milt Pruitt officiating. There will also by visitation on Thurs. Oct. 6th at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville from 10 a.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 12:00 noon. Entombment will follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Lithopolis.
