Sherman D. Sawvel

Sherman D. Sawvel, age 87 of Ashville, OH passed away at his home on Wed. August 30, 2017.  He was born on August 7, 1930 in Metz, IN to the late Roy W. and Eva (Rollins) Sawvel.  Sherman retired from the U.S. Air Force, was a Vietnam War Veteran and a proud member of the American Legion. 

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death in 2002 by his wife of 49 years, Ruth G. (Malone) Sawvel; twin daughters Cindy Sue and Linda Marie; brothers Dale, Maynard, Lonnie and Donnie.

Survived by sons Ronald Sawvel of Ashville and Robert Sawvel of Columbus; daughters Deborah (Frank) Felske of Columbus, Lisa (Mark) Coon of Ashville and Betsy (Ralph) Adkins of Chillicothe; brother Vernice (Suzanne) Sawvel of Angola, IN, brother-in-law John (Betty) Malone of Shipshewana, IN; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Tues. Sept. 5, 2017 at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville with Rev. Roger Tillis officiating.  Friends may call 11:00-1:00 prior to service.  Interment and AMVETS Military Service will follow at Beckett Cemetery, Commercial Point.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:  Harrison Twp.
