David A Imler

David A. Imler, age 60 of Columbus, OH formerly of Circleville and Ashville, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at OSU Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus after a long battle of heart disease.  He recently had a LVAD placed and endure many complications.  Dave was born to Donald Edgar and the late Doris J. (Hill) Imler on November 20, 1957 in Circleville, OH.  Dave was a 1977 graduate of Groveport High School and had worked as a school custodian for Canal Winchester and Pickerington  school districts and had retired from New Albany school district. 

He truly loved his family who he tried to get home to.  He loved making holidays memorable, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the zoo, Kings Island, fishing, haunted houses, cookouts, Wheeling dog races, Circleville Pumpkin Show and his beloved fur babies, Mika and Buddy. 

Along with his mother Doris, he was preceded in death by a niece Ginny Imler. 

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 35 years Patricia; sons David (BreAnna), Mark (Candace) and Ryan (BreAnna) Imler; daughter Sarah Imler; father Donald Imler, brothers Rick (Becky), Donald (Johnnie) and Mike (Sabrina) Imler; sister Michelle Imler; many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Our special appreciation goes to the OSU Ross 4th floor ICU doctors and nurses for all the loving care shown to Dave.  Our deepest gratitude to Mark (Tracey) Sandy (his LVAD brother), you were Dave’s rock and inspiration, we love you both. To Jeff (Kirt) Breitigam, whose support and love touched our hearts, we love you both. 

Dave was a member of the Healing Hearts Organization, which helps people and their families deal with heart disease.  Please consider organ donation, Dave was on a journey to a transplant, which he couldn’t reach, he inspired us all with his bravery and determination.   He’s no longer in pain and will be forever in our hearts. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103 with a Celebration of Life and Carry-In Potluck Dinner from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at VFW, 1096 Tarlton Rd.
