Jesse Wayne Hurt, age 70 of Ashville passed away at home on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. He was born on Dec. 8, 1947 to the late Jesse M. and Florence L. (Singleton) Hurt in Riverdale, MD. Jess was a 1965 graduate of High Point High School in Beltsville, MD and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War earning a Bronze Star and rank of Sargent. A lifelong aviation enthusiast, he earned his pilot license in 1972. He went on to obtain a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and led many projects throughout his career including space shuttle rocket testing, components for MRI machines and Japanese high-speed rail. He retired from CVI, Inc. in 1994.
Jess is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Gladys (Powell) Hurt; son Jeffrey W. (Marie) Hurt of Bexley; daughter Tracey (Daniel) Fox of Canal Winchester; grandchildren Simon and David Hurt; sisters Lois (John) Crider of New Oxford, PA and Patricia (Mike) Frye of Mulberry, FL;
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 9th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Service at 1:00 with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W.
