Walter S. Ishmael

Walter S. Ishmael, 80 of Ashville, OH passed at home on Sat. Sept. 15, 2018.  Walter was born on July 10, 1938 to the late Earl and Eileen (Sexton) Ishmael in Otway, OH.  Walter was retired from DCSC as a Warehouse Leader.  He also had served in the military for 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corp. and retiring after 18 years in the U.S. Air Force and had served during Vietnam. 

Besides his parents, Walter is also preceded in death by a sister Eileen, a son-in-law Keith “Bucky” Beavers and brother-in-law Ralph Carpenter.

Walter is survived by special friend and mother of children Mary Holdren;  children Diamond Ishmael (fiancé Lisa Bendoff) of Ashville, Nevin Ishmael of West Portsmouth, Lisa (John) Bianga of MI, Dona (Rich) Luft of Ashville; grandchildren Brooke (David) Gibson of FL; Janise Layne of Ashville, Kimberly Cline of MI, Clint Beavers (Ashley Pritchard) of Columbus, Eileen Ishmael of W. Portsmouth, Tyler Luft (Liz Feige) of Ashville, Dianna Ishmael of W. Portsmouth, Taylor Luft (Matt Hoefer) of Ashville, Travis Luft of Ashville, Skylar (Kayla) Ishmael of KS; 13 great grandchildren; brother David (Ginger) Ishmael of W. Portsmouth; sisters Betty (Danny) Mackey of Franklin, Earleen Carpenter of Franklin and Donna (Carl) Carpenter of New Carlisle and furry friends Sampson and Korra.      

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  A Funeral Service with Brian Kennett officiating will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103. In lieu of flowers donations may be made In Memory of Sgt. Walter Ishmael to:  VFW, 5904 Crystal Ave. Kansas City, MO 64129 or Rick Brown Memorial VFW, 3301 Northup Ave. South Bloomfield, OH 43103.
