Alta Sue Gustine

Alta Sue Gustine, age 88, of Marietta, Ohio, formerly of Ashville, passed away on July 12, 2026. Sue was born on June 12, 1938, in Wood River, Illinois to the late James Glen Wooldridge and Lena Gertrude (Miller) Wooldridge. She married Harry W. Gustine, Jr. in 1956. They were married for 49 years at the time of his passing in 2005. Sue was a retired bus driver for Bloom-Carroll Local School District. She was a member and formerly attended Blessed Hope Bible Church in Ashville. Her faith was at the center of her life. She devoted time each day to reading her Bible and was actively involved in her church. Sue had a servant’s heart and found great joy in helping others, which led her to volunteer with numerous Vacation Bible Schools, Slate Run Metro Park and the Lancaster Red Cross. She also enjoyed sewing, watching for hummingbirds, working in her flower gardens and walking through creeks with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind son, Rodney (Linda) Gustine; daughters, Toi (Steve, deceased) Acton and Bonnie (Scott) Stalter; grandchildren, Cory Acton (Erica), Bryan Acton (Rita), Lisa (Ben Powers), Rodney Gustine, Lindsey (Trey Washington), Heather Stalter, Alyson (Evan Brockmeier) and Sarah (Chris Long). She had 13 great-grandchildren, Addison, Vivian, Laila, Quentin, Isabella, Nora, Owen, Isla, Marlo, Jamie, Micah, Maisie and Robert, three step grandchildren Olivia, Lillie and Leah; and one sibling, Claudette Apperson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son Willie, four siblings, Judith Nelson, June Funkhouser, Jerome Wooldridge and Samuel Wooldridge and son in law, Steven Acton.

In keeping with Sue’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Sue will be laid to rest in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, 720 Rock Mill Road NW, Lancaster, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, Ashville, Ohio.
