Barbara Jean Woodruff

Barbara Jean Woodruff, 88, of Ashville, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, at Ohio Health Berger ER in Circleville. She was born on April 15, 1938, in Ashville to the late John B. and Valora M. (Hoover) Boesiger.

A graduate of Walnut Township School, Class of 1956, Barb was a longtime active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She had retired from Teays Valley Schools with over 30 years, holding many positions over her career, working as a reading aide, cashier in the cafeteria, library aide, and teacher’s assistant. She was a 4-H advisor for many years, and most of all she loved being a grandma, never missing a school event and being a supporter for all her grandchildren. Barb had a heart to serve others, her family, church and community.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Woodruff, in 1986; brother John Boesiger; sisters and brothers-in-law Madge (Carl) Debruin, Anna Lou Schooley (Robert Grubb), and William Schooley.

Survived by her children Kathy (Michael) Reed, Cindy (Craig) Ramey, John (Michelle) Woodruff, Jessie (John) Pettibone, and Lori Woodruff; special pet Snookie; grandchildren, Rachael, Jacob, Beau, Blaire, Britt, Barbie, J.D., Chloe, Lacey, Lila, and Sean; a host of great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville, Ohio.

Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 6046 St. Paul Rd. Ashville, Ohio, with calling hours from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Pastor Laura Cavendish will officiate. Interment will follow at Reber Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, contributions may be made to St. Paul Church Lutheran.
