Betty Irene Peters, 91 of Ashville passed away February 6, 2024 at her residence. Born April 9, 1932 in Stoutsville, the daughter of Ervin LeRoy and Hazel Del (Hoffman) Kocher. Betty grew up in Stoutsville on the family farm until her father retired and moved to Circleville where she graduated from Circleville High School. She went to work and retired from the General Electric Lamp Plant in Circleville and proud to have been retired longer than she worked. She loved the Pumpkin Show only missing several days over 40 years. She was a faithful member of Zion UMC in Ashville for over 40 years working hand in hand with husband Bob on the noodle crew, funeral dinners and making thousands of apple dumplings to be sold at the spring and fall bizarre and working the pie table and serving her infamous grape pie. Betty volunteered with the American Cancer Society and worked at the Relay for life for over twelve years and was a member of the Pickaway County Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert M. “Bob”, sisters, Helen, Doris and Ruby and brothers, Harry, Gerald, Ray, Clarence and Paul.
She is survived by son, Brent (Gillisa) Peters, grandchildren, Savannah (John) Gould and Sophia (David) Stephens. Great grandchildren, Benjamin and Francine Gould. And Grand dog, Lottie.
Funeral service will be held 4pm Sunday at Zion UMC, 42 Plum St., Ashville with Rev. Ty Myers officiating. Friends may call 2-4 Sunday at the church. Graveside service will be held 1pm Monday at Forest Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion UMC, 42 Plum St. Ashville, Heartland Hospice, 116 Morris Rd. “B”, Circleville, or Harrison Twp. Fire Association, 3625 St. Rt 752, Ashville.
