Christopher A West

Christopher Allen West, 62, of South Bloomfield, OH, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at home with his wife Angela by his side. Christopher was born on May 23, 1964, to Roger West and Sheila (Kim Nielsen) in Cincinnati, OH. Chris was a Navy Corpsman, serving as a field medic for the Marines during Desert Storm. Chris got cancer from the burn pits on the battlefield, which ultimately took his life. Chris worked at Target in Grove City for the past 11 years. He loved his job and his coworkers.

Chris leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Angela; children, Chris West and Ashley West both of Texas; stepchildren, Nathan Kahrig and Logan (Chelsea) Kahrig; grandchildren, Grayson, Jillian, Madison and Kolton; mother, Sheila (Kim) Nielsen; aunt, Tracy (James) Thompson and stepbrother Jordan (Megan) West.

His father, Roger and sister Marcella West Beckman preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, on Wednesday, November 18 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life with military honors provided by AMVETS Post 2256. David and Mike Harmon will offer words of comfort. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home.
