David B. Cornett, age 90, of Canal Winchester, OH, passed from this life on Saturday, June 10, 2026, to forever reside with Jesus. He was born in Morrow, OH to the late James A. and Sarah (Caudill) Cornett on October 11, 1935. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army and held a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Trine University, formerly known as Tri State College in Angola, IN. In 1996, David retired from American Electric Power. He was a member of Blessed Hope Bible Church in Ashville, OH. David really enjoyed his family and had many hobbies such as farming, gardening, woodworking, touring and restoring antique cars, and in recent years, restoring and showing antique tractors.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by sisters, Doris Jean, Delores (John) Lehr, Dixie (Neil) Bevan, and Sarah (Ward) Harris; brothers, Delmar Cornett, Dallas (Mary) Cornett, Harry (Aurelia) Cornett, Dale (Mary) Cornett, and James Cornett; sisters-in-law, Wilma J. Clark, Bertha (Joe) Hadley, Phyllis (Chuck) Rosenberger; brothers-in-law, Thomas Clark, Harold (Ollie) Clark and Laymon (Phyllis) Clark; as well as, mother and father-in-law, Ishmael and Rosa Clark.

He leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Genevieve (Genny) Cornett; son, David (Kellie) Cornett of Canal Winchester, OH; daughter, Kelly Cornett of Lithopolis, OH; granddaughters, Kelsey (Phillip) Young of Rushville, OH and Lindsay Cornett of Bremen, OH; great-grandchildren, Kinley and Kenton Johnson of Rushville, OH; sisters-in-law, Mary E. Woods of Hillsboro, OH, Alicia (Paul) Rosenberger of Hillsboro, OH and Ula Strelecky of Newark, OH; brothers-in-law, Virgil (Kathy) Clark and Herman (Gail) Clark of Clarksville, OH, Jeffery Clark of Georgetown, OH; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 20, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, Ashville, OH. Chaplain Mark Thieret will offer words of comfort. David Cornett, Phillip Young, Kenton Johnson, Don Lowry, Marvin Cheadle, and Chuck Wolfe will serve as pallbearers. Interment will take place at Lithopolis Cemetery, 4365 Cedar Hill Rd NW, Lithopolis, OH 43136 with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Army.
