Elsie M (Callahan) Downing

Elsie M. Downing  97 of Ashville passed  away on Tues.  January 26, 2016 at Brown Memorial in  Circleville, Ohio.  She was born August 8th 1918 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Samuel O.H. and Ella (Brunton) Callahan.  She attended Jackson High School in Jackson, OH and was a homemaker.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Downing a WWII veteran of the US Army.  She was also preceded by four brothers and  two sisters.   Survived by her son David (Darlene) Downing of Columbus; grandson Dustin Downing of Columbus; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank Dee Krysty and the staff of Caring Touch for their wonderful attention and care of Elsie.

The family will receive friends  from 11:00 a.m until the time of  Service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 29th  at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH with Rev. Curtis Sheets officiating .  Concluding Service and Internment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH.  In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to Berger Hospice 1170 N Court St. Circleville, OH 43113.
