Ernest L Griffith

Ernest L. Griffith (“Jake”), 81 of Lancaster, OH passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Specialty Select in Columbus after a brief illness. He was born on May 30, 1941 in Pickerington, OH to the late Curtis and Mary T. Griffith. He was a graduate of Pickerington H.S. Class of 1959 and was in the National Guard. Ernie had retired from the former Lucent Technology (AT&T) after many years as an engineer. In years past he had been a member of the Columbus Maennerchor.  He was a very soft spoken and gentle person.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife Grace (Millar) Griffith, a son Jason and several brothers and sisters.

Jake is survived by his wife of 21 years, Geraldine (Booth) Griffith; son Fred Griffith; stepdaughters, Natalie (James) Blue and Rhonda (Dale) See; grandchildren, Freddie Griffith-Smith, Valerie Griffith-Smith, Mackenzie and Austin Blue, Faith and Dylan See.; sister-in-law, Bessie Tedrick; numerous nieces and nephews; many friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11th from 4-7 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12th at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville with Jerry Welsh officiating. Interment will follow at Harrison Township Cemetery, So. Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the following local military nonprofit organizations: Disabled American Veterans, 143 W.
