Ernest Booth Sr. 93 of Ashville, OH passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Carolyn’s Cottage Home Care in Grove City. Ernie was born on Feb. 26, 1930 to the late Jackie and Pearl (Ward) Booth in Whitehouse, Johnson County, KY. Ernie retired as a heavy equipment operator for Ohio Operating Engineers through IUOE Local 18 with over 25 years and also retired from Delta Railroad Construction after 25 years.
Besides his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Carletta Mae (Harris) Booth in 2020 and a daughter Donsell A. Shaffer; brothers and sisters Ollie, Henry, Arlen, Gladys, Monroe, Jack Jr., Rufus, Garfield, Garnet, Robert and Arlena; daughter-in-law Ellen Booth; sons-in-law Tim Shiltz and Tim Burns.
Ernie is survived by children Judy Shover, Ernest Jr. (Mary Louise) Booth, Brenda (Gordon) Ward, Roger Booth, Georgia Hughes, Peggy Burns, Francie (Brad) Craiglow, Gloria Ellyson, and Billy Booth (Larry Stone); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of great great grandchildren; in laws Nancy and Tom Bausum, Iva Lynch, Sue Harris, Chuck and Sharon Harris, Barbara and James Haywood, Margaret Booth; many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Monday, February 12th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13th at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville 43103 with Rev. Gordon Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Harrison Township Cemetery, South Bloomfield. The family would like to thank the Staff at Carolyn’s Cottage and Mt.
