Gregory A. “Red Dawg” Groves 66 of Ashville, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center. He was born on July 12, 1950 in Columbus to Charles E. and Laura E. (Walters) Groves. Greg retired from the former Reynolds Aluminum in Ashville after 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines during Vietnam, was a proud member of Rick Brown VFW, South Bloomfield, the AMVETS 2256, American Legion , the Eagle’s 685 in Circleville, and a passed Honor Guard member. A 1968 graduate of Teays Valley H.S. Preceded in death by his wife Brenda Sue (Hoover) and father. Survived by sons, Troy Groves and Tyson Groves (Kaili Badgley fiancee’) all of Ashville; mother Laura of Circleville; grandchildren, Darrien and Troy Jr., also Harold Michael Smith and Reilly Thomas Badgley; brothers Glenn (Cathy) Groves of South Bloomfield and David (Barbara) Groves of OK; numerous nieces and nephews; many special friends.
Family will receive friends on Tues. from 4-8 p.m. at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Wed. Jan. 4, 2017. Interment will follow in Harrison Township Cemetery. The family request in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the funeral home, for expenses.
