Ira Muncy

Ira Gordon Muncy, age 88, of Ashville, OH, passed away on Thursday, August 21st, 2025.

Born on March 3, 1937, in Inez, Kentucky, Ira was the beloved husband of Donna Muncy and father of Todd Muncy and Beth (Muncy) Page. He was known around Ashville as always giving passerby's a friendly wave and greeting and could always be counted on for a good joke to bring you a smile.

Ira graduated from Lyndon McKinley High School in Columbus Ohio and retired from Timken Company after 31 years of service working as a machine repairist. In his later years he became well known around Ashville for cutting and trimming trees.

Ira is survived by his wife of 65 years, Donna Muncy; sister, Gwen Eblin; son, Todd Muncy (Jenni); daughter, Beth (Muncy) Page (Nick); three grandchildren, Corey Muncy (Breanne), Nick Muncy (Chelsea) and Zack Page, and two great grandchildren, EmmaLynn Muncy and Arlo Muncy. Ira was preceded in death by his father, James Muncy; mother, Hattie Muncy; and sister Gay Ward (Tom).

Ira loved to collect pocket knives and old tools. He developed a passion for bringing rusted tools back to life with a shine and fresh coat of paint. Ira would spend hours "rubbin" on tools until all the rust pits were polished flat. It was not uncommon for his friends to bring him tools and ask him to bring them back to life. Ira would often spend hours and days bringing a knife back to it's original shine.

In keeping with Ira's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 25, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Oliver Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103. Online condolences can be made at olivercheekfuneralhome.com.
