James "Jim" E. Shaner

James E. “Jim” Shaner 74, of Carroll, OH passed away at Fairfield Medical Center on Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was born on August 24, 1946 to the late Harold and Mildred (Hill) Shaner in Circleville, Ohio.

Jim was a 1964 graduate of Carroll High School. He retired from Yellow Freight after 25 years. Jim was a member of Teamster Local- 413 of Columbus.  He collected Allis-Chalmers Tractors and was an enthusiast of Dodge trucks and diesel engines.

Besides parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son Jamie Shaner, and his sisters Nancy Herron and Phyllis Peters.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheryl L. (Morrison) Shaner; daughter Beth (Travis) Wampler, his son Ron Ayers, and daughter-in-law Niki Shaner; grandchildren, Luke, Nick, Cierra, Garret, Ally, Travis, and Summer; great-grandchildren, Jasper, Emery, Lakota, Lyam and Alayna; brother-in-law Walter Herron, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 3rd from 2-4 p.m., with a Memorial Service to follow at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, Ohio with Pastor Kevin Illich officiating.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 4th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lithopolis Cemetery.  Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 1404 Goodale Blvd. #200, Columbus, Ohio or Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1100 Dennison Ave. Columbus, Ohio.
