James (Jim) Elmore Hastings, 91 of Ashville, OH passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025. Jim was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Bogenrife) Hastings. Jim was born on December 6,1933 in Mt. Sterling, OH. Jim was a helicopter mechanic for the United States Army. He was a member of Scioto Grange, Pickaway County Farm Bureau, Pickaway County Soil and Water Conservation and Lockbourne Masonic Lodge. Jim was honored as the Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year in 1969. 

 Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son Brett Hastings and grandson Zane Grabans. Jim is survived by his lovely wife of 69 years, Patsy (Fausnaugh) Hastings, children - Rom (Jodi) Hastings, Holly (Rob) Powell, Matt (Wendy) Hastings, grandchildren - Chelsey (Drew) Gable, Derek (Vickie) Hastings, Cody (Karissa) Hastings, Leslie (Ben) McMurray, Jacob Hastings, Mallory (Austin) Heiing, Raelynn "Gracie" Hastings and seven great grandchildren. 

 Jim was a lifelong farmer. He was a great story teller who loved making people laugh. He enjoyed farming, traveling, playing cards with friends, watching the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, OSU Buckeyes and most of all attending his children and grandchildren's ball games in whatever sport they played. The family will host a Celebration of Life on August 24, 2025 at the Commercial Point Community Men's Club located at 26 W. Scioto Street, Commercial Point, OH from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. where Jim's favorite sweets will be served. A special request of Jim's was if you have a tractor and can drive it to the celebration, please do so. Нe would appreciate it. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Zane Hastings Grabans Memorial Foundation, which helps support mental health and suicide awareness among our Veterans and our youth.  c/o Holly Hastings Powell, 12501 Walker Rd.
