James R. Walker 88 of Scioto Township, near Commercial Point, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Berger Hospital . He was born June 24, 1927 to the late Lawrence N. and Sarah Ellen (Redman) Walker on the family farm, that has been in the Walker Family for several generations.
Jim was a lifelong farmer, had been a Scioto Twp. Trustee, a past member of the Commercial Point Men’s Club, and past Volunteer Fireman in Scioto Twp.. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice (Burgett) Walker in 2002; a sister Betty Thompson and brothers, Jack and Richard Walker. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, JoEllen (Dan) Southers of Scioto Township; grandson, Ryan (Kori) Southers of Ashley, Ohio; great granddaughter, Evelyn Mary “Evie” Southers; numerous nieces and nephews; many life long special friends. The family will receive friends on Wed. from 5-8 p.m. at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, Ohio with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Thurs. March 31, 2016 , Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow at Beckett Cemetery, Commercial Point.
