April 11, 1929 – January 27, 2024

A lifelong resident of Ashville, Ohio, Jerry was married to Mona Lee (Graham) Trego for 70 years, prior to her passing in 2022. Also preceded in death by his parents Harry and Marie (Bowers) Trego, and brother William Trego.

Jerry is survived by his children Jill (Roger) Rill of Hilliard, Tami (Russel) Reynolds of Loudonville, and Terry (Suzanne) Trego of Ashville; grandchildren Susan Rill, Alan (Jennifer) Rill, Lee (Sarah) Reynolds, Erin (Mick) Reilly, Stewart Trego, and Graham (Sarah) Trego; great grandchildren Cora and Greta Reynolds; numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduation from Ashville Harrison High School in 1947, Jerry attended Ohio University. He then enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard, retiring as a Warrant Officer after 42 years of service. Following retirement, he enjoyed traveling the world with Mona Lee.

Jerry was a devoted member of First English Lutheran Church in Ashville for 84 years, where he served many years as Council President. He was also a 50-year member of Groveport-Lockbourne Lodge of F. & A.M., worked with the Past Masters Unit of the Aladdin Shrine and was a 32-degree member of the Scottish Rite.

He was honored with the Distinguished Citizen Award by the Ashville Community Men’s Club in 2000.

Jerry was very active in baseball, especially umpiring, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at First English Lutheran Church, 94 Long St, Ashville, OH 43103, with Pastor Joe Wolf officiating. Interment will follow in Harrison Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. up to the time of the service Wednesday at First English.
