Jimmy Gill, 72, of Ashville, passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2025. Born on March 29, 1953, in Gainesville, Florida, to James Clayton and Seleta Catherine Poole-Gill, Jim began a lifetime of service when he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1972, training as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist. Following his honorable discharge, he continued to serve others as an Air National Guard Survival Educator, Deputy Sheriff with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Department, and later as a salesman who never met a stranger. Jim had a gift for conversation and could find common ground with anyone he met.
A proud NASCAR fan who grew up near Daytona Beach, Jim also enjoyed poker nights and cheering for his favorite college and professional football teams, and the Cincinnati Reds. He will be remembered for his easy smile, quick wit, and his warm, welcoming spirit.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Gill, and his daughter Heather Gill. He is survived by his wife, Julie Gill; former wife, Debra Gill; sister Sharon Cutliff; daughters Cherilynn Amber Lanctot (Dan), Kateland Gill (Justin Adair), and Cassandra Gill; and his cherished grandchildren Macy and Collin Lanctot and Aiden and Adrianna Adair.
