John Wendell Dustin

John W Dustin, age 89, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at Specialty Selects Hospital.  He was born September 2, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio, son of late father, Howard and mother, Mabel.  John was a graduate of Westerville High School and served in the US Navy during WW II.  He was owner/operator of several Wendy’s franchises for nearly 25 years.  After retiring, he worked as a ranger and starter at the Duke University Golf Course where he was able to play golf nearly every day for several years.

John was preceded in death by 2 sons, John and William, special companion, Manja Moore, and his sister, Genevieve “Aunt Dusty” Newpoff.  He is survived by his daughters, Jodi Lynn Brown (Randall) and Sally Lu Knoll (Michael) and step son, Jeff McAfee, step daughters, Kim Lennon and Pamela Sterling;  his grandchildren, Melissa and Jennifer Dustin, Randi Lynn Brown and Bradley Bailey, great grandchildren, Eric and Matthew Bailey and Maleke Dustin, step grandchildren Heather Sipe (Romi) and Holly D’Aiello (Frank), step great grandchildren, William, Walker and Winston Danison, Carter D’Aiello and Denver and LeAnna Lennon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 25th at 12:00 at Oliver Cheek Funeral Home, 420 Main Street W, Ashville, Ohio 43103 with Pastor Ron Goodling officiating.  A luncheon for friends and family will follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in John’s memory would be greatly appreciated.  Condolences at olivercheekfuneralhome.com
