Lawrence E. Smith Jr. 74, of Lockbourne passed away on Sat. Dec. 24, 2016 at home with his family at his side while in hospice care.

He was born July 20, 1942, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of Lawrence E. Smith Sr. and Ophelia L. (Meitzler) Smith.  He graduated from Louis E. Dieruff High School, Allentown, PA, in 1960 and served in the United States Airforce.  He retired from TOSOH SMD, Inc., Grove City, in 1998 and then retired from Mary Haven, Columbus, in 2012.  He was a member of the Rick Brown Memorial VFW Post 7941, South Bloomfield.

He is survived by his wife, Dinah L. (Leeth) Smith of Lockbourne; one son, Scott E. and Michelle E.(Cathel) Smith of Orient; one daughter, Holly N. and Anthony L. Large of Circleville; one granddaughter Jenna E. Smith; one grandson, Jacob L. Large; two sisters, Diane (Smith) Willenbecher and Debra (Smith) Riley of Allentown, PA; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; Aunt Isabel (Kocher) Pohl, Allentown, PA; numerous cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by both parents, brother Robert T. Smith, and sister-in-law Susan (Haller) Smith and brother-in-law Eugene Willenbecher.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103 with Pastor Donald Alexander officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.at the funeral home.
