MARJORIE C. LEWIS passed away on Sunday, October 25. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Lewis, and her brother Harold Crites. Marjorie was born June 4, 1922 to Wendell and Olive Crites of Wilmington, Ohio.
While teaching at Jefferson township she met James Lewis in August 1941, at the Clinton County Fair. They shared a loving marriage for fifty-one years.
They later married and moved to Hamilton Ohio where they built up a great herd of Holstein Cattle. They raised their two sons, Jim and Dick, on the farm in Hamilton. In 1979, they moved to Orient, Ohio and established Shanghigh Holsteins with their son Dick, and his wife Sally.
Marjorie was a wonderful mother to her two sons Jim and Dick (Sally). She was a loving grandmother to Jim's daughter, Angelle (Dave) and Dick's children, Stephanie (Eric) Schooley, Amy (Kyle) Bland and Bradley (Maria) Lewis. She was a great grandmother to Nicholas and Jonathan Schooley, Tyler and Grace Bland, Olivia and Gavin Lewis, and Brooke and Hunter Hill. She was loved by her sister Miriam, sister-in-law Jean Crites, her brother Wendell (Maragret). She was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was a 4-H leader, she loved helping the young children in her club. She was am amazing baker, and helped bake for years at her church dinners. She was awarded Outstanding Holstein Woman of the year in 1992. She belonged to the Sewing Guild and the Progressive Literary Club and was a member of the Commercial Point United Methodist Church.
She was a remarkable lady who loved her family and her church. She was kind and generous to all who knew her and she will be missed. The visitation will take place at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home in Ashville, Ohio, on October 29, from 10:00-12:00 with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Commercial Point United Methodist Church.
