Marjorie Irene (Warner) Reed, age 78, went home to the Lord December 19, 2016, passing away at Mount Carmel West Hospital. Marjorie, the oldest of 13 children, is preceded in death by mother and father Butler and Sylvia Warner, husband Howard (Oscar Reed), sisters and brother, Edith Riser, Thelma Arledge, Barbara Alley, Shirley Jordan, and David Warner.
Born in Greenup Kentucky on August 18, 1938, she attended Unioto Schools in Ross County, Ohio. Marge retired from Monterey Nursing Home after 23 years of serving others as a nursing assistant. Monterey was her second career, after she was a stay-at-home mom for her five children.
Marge was a member of the Ashville Church of Christ in Christian Union, a member of WIS Women In His Service, and a member of the Pickaway Senior Center. Marge loved her time there where she became a welcome fixture, making many friends and playing dominos, bingo, corn toss, and volunteering in many fundraisers for Alzheimer's. She loved Thursday bible study and fellowship, and would constantly invite friends and family to attend with her. She will be greatly missed by her Senior Center Family, which really filled a void in her life after her husband passed.
She is survived by her five children: Howard Reed (Mona), Mike Reed (Kathy), Rhonda Hatfield (Stephan), Jeff Reed, Tim Reed (Annie). Marge was a proud grandma of Jon (Kim), Tara, Rachael, Jacob (Megan), Holly, Hannah (Jeff), Graeme, and Alli. She was especially proud of her great grandchildren, Evelyn and Cora Reed, and the two more arriving soon. She is survived by sisters and brothers: Robert Warner, Charles Warner, Butler Warner (Carol), Carolyn Canter (John), Debbie Sever, Brenda Hatfield (Danny), Sherry Beane (Tom), and so many nieces and nephews. We want to thank all her friends and family, Pastor Don Blankenship for his enduring faithfulness, the care of Harrison Township Fire Department for their extraordinary attention, and Dr. Vincent Guinn for the fabulous quality of life that he helped give her over the past 16 years.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday Dec 22 at Ashville Church of Christ in Christian Union, 420 Long St. Ashville, OH 43103 with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. For those who wish donations can be made in Marjorie’s memory to Pickaway Senior Center 2105 Chickasaw Dr. Circleville, OH 43113 or to Ashville Church of Christ in Christian Union.
