Michael E Burns Sr.

Michael E. Burns Sr., 69, of Canal Winchester, OH passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center.  He was born on August 27, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Okey Edward and Janice Lea (Artrip) Burns.  Michael graduated from Grove City High School and was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Navy on an Aircraft Carrier in the Coral Seas.  He later worked in construction as a sheet metal worker.  He enjoyed fishing and was a huge OSU Buckeye fan. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brother Roger Burns and sister Linda Hayes.

Survived by his wife, Alvina (Riley) of 25  years; sons Michael E. (Cynthia) of Amelia and Christopher of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren Austin, Seth, Logan and Aidrionna; brother David (Victoria); sisters Debbie Johnson and Sandy Green; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Chalmers P. Wyley Veterans Clinic, Grove City VA Clinic, Cleveland VA Medical Center,  Mount Carmel East, and OSU Ross Hospital  for all of their care.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 beginning at 11 AM with services at 1 PM at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home 420 W. Main Street, Ashville, Ohio with Pastor Bryan Grove officiating.  Burial will be held at the Franklin Hills Memory Gardens in Canal Winchester.  Online condolences at olivercheekfuneralhome.com
