Nancy M (Hedges) Call

Nancy Hedges Call, 83 passed away July 23, 2017 at Select Care of Columbus after an extended hospital stay. She was preceded in death by parents, Roger and Helen (Ebert) Hedges and a brother Don Hedges.

Nancy is survived by husband of 59 years, Fred G. Call of Mt. Sterling, Ohio; son Jeffery Call of Ashville; good buddy and caregiver Dwight Alan Karshner of Ashville and special pet Ozark.

Nancy’s family were early settlers in Walnut Township being remembered for their hybridized seed corn business.  She graduated Salutatorian of her class of 1952 from Ashville Harrison High School. After graduation from Ohio University where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, she taught elementary school in Bexley, Ohio, then coming back home to teach at Walnut Elementary school.  Most pupils even now stating she was their favorite teacher.  Mrs. Call moved closer to her husband’s farm in Mt. Sterling, Ohio where she taught in that school system as well.  Nancy was also a great helpmate to her husband on their farm.  She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star of Mt Sterling, Ohio and a former member of the Derby Garden Club. Nancy was always a sweet friendly person who’s favorite phrase was “Good Night”.  She will be missed by many.

Friends may visit the family at her childhood home Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 15026 Lockbourne Eastern Rd. Ashville, OH. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at United Christian Church, 30 E. Columbus St. Mt. Sterling, Ohio with Rev. Kevin Pees officiating.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Cemetery.  Donations may be made to:  United Christian Church or Village Chapel Church, 30 Circleville Ave. Ashville, OH 43103.
