Neil Lester Reed 90 of Ashville, passed away Sunday, Feb12, 2017 at Crestview Manor in Lancaster.  He was born June 4th, 1926 in Bremen, Ohio to the late Earl and Mary (O’Conner) Reed.  He attended Madison Elementary School then graduated from Walnut Township H.S.  After graduation he went in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II.   Neil retired as an engineer from the former Columbus and Southern Electric Co. after over 39 years.  He was a lifelong farmer and had been on the Walnut Township Zoning Board for a number of years and a member of Groveport Masonic Lodge.   He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Preceded in death by daughters, Sharon Ann Reed and Jackie Lindsey; grandson Matt Bastian; brothers Kenneth, Harold, Howard, and sister Mildred.  Survived by his loving wife of 69 years Helen Ruth (Noice) Reed;  daughter Donna J. Walters of Ashville;  son  Steve Reed of Ashville; grandchildren, Josh (Candee) Crosby of Ashville, Robert  Walters of Akron, Sarah (Ryan) Tipton of Columbus, Jeremy  Reed of Columbus, Steve Perry of Columbus, and Mike Bastian of NC.; a host of  great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wed. Feb. 15, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home 420 W. Main St. Ashville, Ohio with a Funeral Service at 10:30   on Thurs. Feb. 16th, 2017 with Rev. Floyd Hubbell officiating.  Interment will follow in Reber Hill Cemetery with AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard.  Family request lieu of flowers contributions may be made to FMC Foundation, Cancer Care Fund, 401 N.
