Philip D. Forsythe 67 of Ashville, passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at Grant Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 12, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Darius Hugh and Opal Virginia (Marshall) Forsythe. Phil retired from Teays Valley School District as a teacher after 41 years. He taught social studies, coached football, and golf during his career. A graduate of North H.S. Columbus, class of 1964 and a graduate of The Ohio State University in Education, receiving his masters from Xavier University. He was a member Village of Chapel United Methodist Church in Ashville where his was a Sunday School Teacher. He previously was the Director of Music at North Church of Christ in Christian Union, Columbus. Preceded in death by parents and grandson, Jermaine McCrary, son-in-law, Raymond McCrary.

Survived by wife Beverly Gail (Compton); daughters, Nikki (Doug) Riddle of Ashville and Aimee McCarey of Grove City; grandchildren, Sadiyq Holloway, Caleb, Kennedy, and Kylie Riddle; sisters, Tina Marie Perkins of Delaware, OH and Teresa ( John) Bettac of ; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Thurs. at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at Village Chapel United Methodist Church, 30 Circleville Ave. Ashville with Pastor Kevin Pees officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at church.

Interment will follow in Reber Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family request contributions may be made to JDRF, 1550 Old Henderson Rd. Suite N-160 , Columbus, 43220.
