Rebecca Ellen (Leatherwood) Sampsill

Rebecca (Becky) Ellen Leatherwood Sampsill, 77, of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away surrounded by her family on February 15, 2025 in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born on April 16, 1947 to Mary Rathburn Legg and Edward Leatherwood. On October 9, 1965 Rebecca married Bruce Sampsill, who survives. They were childhood sweethearts and married for more than 59 years. Rebecca was a lifelong resident of Ashville, Ohio before moving to Chillicothe, Ohio in 2007. She graduated in 1965 from Teays Valley High School. Rebecca worked for over 35 years at General Electric in Circleville. Many special friendships were developed during her employment. She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce; their only child, Michele Sampsill Spencer of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Jacob Vanchure, and Madalyn Spencer, both of Chillicothe; two sisters, Jennifer Elam of Roaming Shores, Ohio and Regina Leatherwood of Mt. Sterling, Ohio; Sister-in-law, Caron (Kitchen) Leatherwood of Ashville; two nieces, Deborah (Ron) Teeters of Ashville and Vicki (Doug) Moss of Westerville, Ohio; several special cousins and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by very special friends Robin Stewart, of Chillicothe and Lillian O’Day of Ashville along with several other close personal friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Marion (Buddy) Leatherwood. The family will receive friends  from 10 a.m until the time of service at 1:00p.m. Friday,  February 21, 2025 at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville with Rev.
