Robert “Bob” Cox, age 84 of Ashville, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2025. He was born on November 4, 1940, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Carl and Ruby (Boggs) Cox. Bob lived a life marked by kindness, humor and an unwavering love for family and friends.

Bob spent 55 years as a Block Mason and took great pride in his craft – often pointing out garages he built while driving around the Columbus area. Outside of work, he had a passion for vegetable gardening, generously sharing his harvest with neighbors and loved ones. He had a knack for finding joy in life’s simple pleasures: a nap beneath a shade tree, a good find at the flea market, watching classic westerns, or a belly laugh from a comedy show - He would often laugh so hard that it would become contagious. One of Bob’s most cherished traditions was attending the Ohio State Fair with family, an event that held special meaning throughout his life. Later in life, Bob and his wife were especially grateful for the times his cousin, Bill Rhyne and wife Sue, would show up, often taking them on a nice country drive before stopping to enjoy lunch together.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jacqueline; son Robert Cox (Heather); daughter Rebecca Cox (Kathy); grandchildren, Austin Cox, Abbye Cox, Alex Gowans and Ashley Becker. His warmth extended beyond immediate family to include sister-in-law Teresa Cox; nephews, Jeremy Cox, Jacob Cox, Kevin Cox; and his good friend Jay Branham.

Besides his parents Bob was preceded in death by his siblings Kenneth Cox, Jerry Cox, Judy Long, and Terry Cox.

Bob will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He would want us all to remember his favorite quote: “Please take care of yourself and each other”. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, Ashville.
