Roy "Birdie" E. Wiley

Roy “Birdie” E. Wiley, 85 of Ashville, OH passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Pickaway Manor in Circleville, OH.  He was born on October 8, 1937 in Martin, KY and was a graduate of Wayland High School in Floyd County, KY.  Roy worked as a professional carpenter for Contract Lumber and Major Builders.  He had attended Hedges Chapel Church and enjoyed cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.  He loved Buckeye Nation so much that he worked parking cars so he could go in and watch the games.

Preceded in death by parents Roy R. and Audrey (Slone) Wiley; wife Dannette Louise (Lee) Wiley in Dec. 2010; brother Rodney Wiley; brother-in-law James Owsley; grandson Justin Eugene Wiley.

He is survived by son Royce E. (Pamela) Wiley of Orient; daughter Tammy (Jack) DeJohn of Thornville; grandchildren Jamie Sturgeon Surrarrer, Thomas Jones, Desi, Dionne, and Dante (Lesley) DeJohn; a host of great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; brother Doug (Judy) Wiley; sister Brenda Owsley; host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, December 16th with Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17th at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville 43103 with Rev. Kevin Ratliff officiating.  Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Glenford, OH.  The family invites those who attend to wear their OSU Buckeye apparel.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:  Ashville Food Pantry, 20 Church St. Ashville, OH 43103.
