Ruth LaFern Bailey, age 86, of Ashville, OH passed away on September 19, 2025. LaFern was born on February 28, 1939, in Jonesville, VA to the late Bernard and Rosa (Morris) Rutherford. LaFern was Vice President of Operations at the Citizens Bank of Ashville, where she worked for 31 years.

In addition to her parents, LaFern is preceded in death by her son, Steve Bailey; brothers, Newman Rutherford, Cecil Rutherford and Bernie Rutherford; as well as her sisters, Ruby Jayne, Edith Parson and Bernice Mills.

She is survived by her spouse of 66 years, Charles V. Bailey; their daughter, Stefani (Jimmy) Johnson of Manchester, TN; grandchildren, Jesse (Maycee) Bailey, Jennifer McNutt, Abby (Eric) Keith and Emily (Brian) Gilliam; sisters-in-law, Beverly Rutherford and Carol Pendleton; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Dakota, Mariah, Alexiah, Alyssa, Kaisyn, Karsyn, Thomas and Annabelle; along with many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, September 22 at 3:00 p.m. at Reber Hill Cemetery, 16810 Winchester Rd., Ashville, OH, 43103. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sunshine Ministries, c/o Tom Canapp, P.O. Box 35, Kingsville, MD, 21087.
