Stephen Ray Rice

Stephen Ray Rice, 68 of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Doctors Hospital West, Columbus.   He was born on March 27, 1956 in Columbus to the late Gordon Ray and Anna Louise (Hall) Rice.   Stephen was a 1975 graduate of Teays Valley High School, a veteran of the US Army where he was stationed in Germany and then later in Colorado Springs and retired as a machinist for Owens Illinois Techneglas.  He loved hunting, fishing, music, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Stephen is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Alan King.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri A. (King) Rice; son, Jason (Amanda) Rice; grandson Luke; brothers Fred (Judy) and Dwayne; mother-in-law Rosalie King; sister-in-law Debbie (Richard) Crabtree; brother-in-law Jon (Terri) King; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and a host of great-great nieces and nephews along with special friends Ron Thomas and Joe Gerchy.

Visitation will be held from 2pm – 5pm on Sunday, March 2nd at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main Street, Ashville, OH 43103 with Funeral Service on Monday, March 3rd at 11am with Pastor Don Blankenship officiating.  Interment will follow at Harrison Township Cemetery, South Bloomfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation.  Online condolences to olivercheekfuneralhome.com
