Thelma L. Mast, 88, of Ashville, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Berger Hospital, Circleville.
She was born on April 29, 1926, in Madison Twp., Pickaway County, to the late Rance Floyd and Myrtie Mae (Hinton) Hines.
As a young farmer growing up on a dairy farm, she worked along side her parents, brothers and sister. In later years, she worked for the Grange organization also was a proud member for 74 years. Thelma retired from Baum Insurance in Ashville after a number of years.
She also enjoyed being a caterer and cake decorator for weddings and numerous other events. She loved gardening, pie baking, hand-made crafting and canning. She was a member of Hedges Chapel Church and was a secretary for the Nebraska Grange for many years. Most recently she worked with her husband, Wilbur, at his farm market on Rt. 188.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne and Herman Hines; a sister, Gladys Hines; niece, Sheryl Laxton; nephew, Bill Hines; and step-son, Johnny Mast.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Wilbur E. Mast; brother, Charles Hines of Circleville; nieces and nephews, Nancy West of Ashville, Jerry (Nancy) Hines of Ashville, Steve Hines of Ashville and Gary Hines of Grove City; special great nieces, Kristi (Chuck) Hodge of Circleville and Sherry Hall of Ashville; numerous other great nieces, great nephews; great great nieces and great great nephews; stepson, Steve (Kimberly) Mast of North Carolina; step grandsons, Ryan (Makenzie) Mast of Ashville and Jarod Mast of Circleville.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville, with Rev. Jeremy Hurd and Rev. Ron Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Reber Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
