Wilbur Edward Mast, 95, of Circleville passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. He was born on March 13, 1931 in Circleville to the late John B. and Mabel G. (Valentine) Mast. After graduating from Circleville High School in 1949, Mast served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. A life-long farmer, Wilbur was a staple of the Circleville community, known for providing some of the best produce in the area at Mast Market. Wilbur’s passion was in the produce that brought people together. He spent decades cultivating his famous sweet corn, sun-ripened melons, and vine-matured tomatoes. To Wilbur, a perfect ear of corn or a heavy, sweet melon wasn’t just a crop– it was a gift to the community and testament to a year of hard work.
When he wasn’t in the fields, Wilbur enjoyed being around people, telling jokes, and sharing stories. He was a man of few words but deep roots, teaching his family that patience, persistence, and a little bit of rain could solve almost anything.
Aside from his parents Wilbur was preceded in death by wives Eleanor Mast and Thelma Mast; son, John Mast; sisters Rosemary and Helen; brothers Emanuel and Paul.
Wilbur is survived by his son, Steve (Kimberly) Mast; grandsons Ryan (Makenzie) Mast, Jarod (Emily) Mast and Parker Mast; granddaughter Ava Mast; great-grandchildren Adalynn, Nolan, Ethan, Maylan, Evan, David Mast; nephew Bryan (Nancy) Dunkle, great-nephew Aaron Dunkle; long-time cherished friend Terri Frazier; companion Barbara Martindale.
