Eleanore N. Chandler, 91 of Ashville, OH passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Pickering House in Lancaster, OH. Eleanore was born on March 12, 1931 in Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Mark Twain High School in WV. Eleanore was retired as a cook at Teays Valley High School and had also worked at Rickenbacker AFB in the children’s nursery. Throughout the years, Eleanore was very involved in her community. She was a longtime member of the Scioto Chapel UMC and a 30+ year member of TOPS achieving KOPS. She was a past member of the Ashville Women’s Civic Club recently being named Distinguished Woman for her years of volunteer work and was honored during the recent Ashville 4th of July Festival and was recognized in the Parade. For the past 18 years, she has enjoyed being a "snowbird" spending winters in Ruskin, FL south of Tampa.
Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband James C. Chandler in 2002; daughter Melanie Chandler in 1980; her mother Zilpha Maher; half-sister Jesse Thurston.
Eleanore is survived by sons James E. (Sharon) Chandler of Rockbridge, Jeffrey L. Chandler of Cookeville, TN and Joseph L. (Cheryl) Chandler of Logan; grandchildren Rebecca, Melinda, Anthony, Haley, Garrett, Taylor, Matthew, Nathaniel, Amanda and Stephen; 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 31st from 3 to 6 p.m. at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville 43103. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1st at Scioto Chapel UMC, 6337 State Route 316 West, Ashville 43103 with Pastor Brian Dunham officiating. Interment will follow at Harrison Township Cemetery in South Bloomfield.
