Glen Allen Edwards, 70 of South Bloomfield passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, surrounded by his family at OSU James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born on January 25, 1953 in Grundy, VA, but moved to Ohio when he was 6 weeks old where he grew up with his family. Glen was a 1971 graduate of Mt. Gilead High School and attended the former CTI and OSU. He worked as a computer operator and retired from the City of Columbus after 30 years of service. He was a big OSU fan and enjoyed his 60s and 70s rock music. Glen loved nature which included his backyard, cabin get aways and his lifelong trips to visit extended family in Virginia. There was never a dull moment when Glen was around as he always had something witty to say or a story to tell. He has been dubbed the family historian, always being the one who could remember the small details that everyone else had forgotten. Glen had his favorite easy chair in the family room where he loved to watch the old Western TV shows like Gunsmoke and Bonanza, enjoy any movie with Clint Eastwood or Harrison Ford, tease his brain with Jeopardy, and chuckle at sitcoms like Big Bang Theory. Glen will be remembered for the power of his laugh, the strength of his love, and the gentleness of his heart.
Glen is preceded in death by a son Nicholas James Edwards in 2016; and his father, Durward Edwards in 2010.
Glen is survived by wife Shee J. (Royo) Edwards; children Erin, Amanda, Jonathan and Joaquin; his mother Catherine (Anderson) Edwards; grandchildren Ashlyn, Joseph and Alexander Skivers, Paisley and Lila Edwards; great grandchildren Nicholas and Lucas Nagel; brothers Steve Edwards, Will (Corey Beck) Edwards, Roger (Kary) Edwards; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30th and on Thursday, August 31st from 10-11 a.m. prior to Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103. Interment will follow at Harrison Township Cemetery, South Bloomfield. Afterwards, the family will receive guests at the Marvin Webster Memorial Park Community Center, 5010 North St. W., South Bloomfield, OH 43103 for a light lunch and social hour.
