Helen (Custer) Hootman

Helen Hootman, 83 of Ashville, OH passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Mount Carmel Hospital in Grove City, OH.  Helen was born on June 1, 1940 in Clinton, PA to the late Joseph and Roxanne (Doby) Custer.  She provided in-home daycare for 40 years.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed singing karaoke at Mike’s Pizza and talking to friends and family on the phone.     

Besides her parents, Helen is preceded in death by husband Charles W. Hootman Jr. in 2003; brother Joe Custer and sister Grace.

Helen is survived by children Charles W. (Ginny) Hootman III and David A. Hootman; grandchildren Mindie Hootman, Eric James Hootman and Jennifer Hootman; great grandson Kevin Campbell Jr.; nephew Don Custer. 

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 3rd at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103.  In PA, Visitation on Friday, October 6th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7th  at Herrick Compassionate Funeral Service, 951 Cliff Mine Rd. Imperial, PA 15126 with Pastor Ted Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Robinson Cemetery in Bulger, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Veteran’s organization.
