Joseph Spires

Joseph Spires 82 of Ashville passed away peacefully on Friday Nov. 25, 2022.   He was born April 21, 1940 in Peebles, OH to the late Jesse and Myrtle (Stansberry) Spires.  Joe was a combat veteran in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam.  He had worked at Buckeye Steel for a number of years and was a horse trainer at Scioto Downs.  Also a lifetime member of the Rick Brown Post 7941. Joe was preceded in death by the love of his life Martha M (Garren) Spires in 2019; brothers and sisters, Oris, Mae, Paul, Mary, Clay and Warner.

Survived by daughters, Pamela (Michael) Levan and Carrie Smith; grandchildren Christopher, Ciarah, Michael; great granddaughter Zarrah; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Thurs. Dec. 1, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Hills, Circleville.  AMVETS Post 2256 will provide Military Honors.
