Margaret Trimmer Obituary

Margaret Jean (Swander) Trimmer

June 27, 1941 ~ April 18, 2021 (age 79)

Margaret Jean Trimmer passed away on Sunday, April 18, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.  She was born June 27, 1941 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Ernest Hiler and Frances (Emerson) Swander and stepfather Thomas Swander.

During her early childhood years Marge lived with her grandparents, George “Poppy” and Alice “Gram” Emerson who she loved dearly. She spent her formative years, before graduating high school, living next door to her Uncle Dick and Aunt Billie Stadtlander and family, who markedly influenced her life and with whom she maintained special relationships. During her senior year of high school Marge’s family moved to Chatham, New Jersey where she graduated and then attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. While attending college she worked part time in a local ice cream shop where she met and later married her husband of 52 years, the late Wilmer (Bill) H. Trimmer. Shortly after having their four children they moved to Sharonville, Ohio and in 1975 settled their family in the “Trimmer farmhouse” in Ashville, Ohio.  Marge was a longtime employee of Banc Ohio and later the Bob Evans Corporate Offices in Columbus where she acquired some of her closest friends and eventually retired. Marge attended St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed being among many long-time friends.

Marge was the center of the universe in the lives of her daughters. She was a wonderful, dedicated mother who loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren selflessly. Over the decades she had a strong passion for restoring their farmhouse and also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting and spending time in the sun~floating in the pool with Lily. Most of all Marge treasured any time spent with family, hosting large family/friend gatherings and making all of her “special” recipes.   Marge is her family’s “north star” and will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret is predeceased by her brother Robert Swander. Margaret is survived by her beloved “pet/child” Lily, her sister Sue (David) Jacobsen, brother Jim Swander; children Susie Trimmer, Beth (Ken) Torrence, Dana Moore, and Sandra Watson (Ken Higginbotham); stepchildren Glenn (Becky) Trimmer and Peggy Aglubat; her grandchildren Colin (Brittany) Torrence, Tyler Torrence, Shannon Torrence, Sean Torrence, Kristen Kennedy, Bethany (Jacob) Landis, Johnny (Anna) Moore,  Luke Watson, Logan Watson, Leah Spangler, Jacob Spangler, Ross Trimmer and Anthony Aglubat; great grandchildren Marley and Reagan Torrence, Kehlan Watterson and Avery Kennedy, Jude and Myla Landis, Gavin Moore, Oliver Trimmer; extended family:  Kyle Kennedy, Buck Watson, John Moore, Robert Spangler, Aunt Lona “Billie” Stadtlander, Joni (Dan) Bishop, Debbie (Rick) Applegate, Janet Brayton and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 22, 2021 from 11a.m. – 1p.m. at the Trimmer homestead, located at 2230 Winchester Southern Road, Ashville Ohio.Memorial donations may be made to Fairhope Hospice in Lancaster, Ohio or Saint Paul Lutheran Church Ashville, Ohio.
