Melvin Orwin Stewart, 87 of Ashville, OH went to his heavenly home on Feb 9, 2021. He was born March 11, 1933 in McKeffrey, WV to the late Merrill Orwin and Rachel Lucinda (Wilson) Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Garry Lee Stewart and sister Velva Jean (Stewart) Bauerbach. Melvin loved being outside playing golf and working in the garden. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was always proud of their accomplishments and what was happening in their lives. He had a smile that would light up a room and would allow others to easily engage him. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he worshipped and faithfully served others.

He served in the US Air Force during the Korean war. His career as a model maker in tool and die shops at Miller Welding and Machine shop, Remington Rand, Dravo, Kardex in Marietta OH and Electrolux in Kinston, NC provided for his family. He found satisfaction in working with his hands making and repairing things.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife of 60 years Carolyn Lois (Wetz) Stewart. Children; Christina Ann (Stewart) Olsson (LarsAke) of Lockbourne OH, Daniel Melvin Stewart (Lara) of Grabill IN, Melinda Corrine (Stewart) Fox (Brent) of LaGrange KY, and Valorie Lois (Stewart) Winslow (Greg) of Pataskala OH. Grandchildren; AnnSofia (Taylor) Threlkeld, Lars Niklas Olsson, Jared (Carley) Stewart, Callie Stewart, Caleb (Amanda) Fox, Austin (Brigitte) Fox, Chauntel (Ben) Jones, Alexa (Tenace) Crane, Derek Winslow. Great grandchildren; Elijah, Naomi, Zane, LeGrand, Jemma, Wendy, Cohen, Aric, and Ezra.

A graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell, OH will be held at a future date. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Mount Carmel Hospice/Palliative Care.
