Naomi Marie (Norris) Hay

Naomi M. Hay, 96, Ashville, OH passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at Pickaway Manor, Circleville, OH.  Born December 10, 1926 in Pickaway Co. Ohio, daughter of the late Howard and Famah (Martin) Norris. Upon graduation from Walnut Township High School, Naomi moved from her family’s farm to Columbus where she desired to learn more about urban life and culture. She accepted an offer to work for Grange Insurance and enjoyed her time there. Her intent was to move away from the agricultural world and insisted that she would not marry a farmer. Naomi’s vision changed when she met Dorwin Hay, who was a recipient of the “Outstanding Young Farmer of the State of Ohio” award. Her love for Dorwin brought her back to Pickaway County where she played a vital role in the family’s successful farm operation. Naomi was a member of Hedges Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union and Pickaway County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed fishing at the farm pond, roller skating, watching OSU football and basketball games, spelling bee competitions, playing cards and board games with friends, and spending time with her family, especially Henley Naomi, her only great grandchild.  Naomi was known for her delicious holiday meals, homemade dishes, pumpkin pie, and angel food cake. Preceded in death by her Parents (Howard and Famah Norris), Sisters (Evelyn Kull, Martha Ogle, Annabel Spangler), Brother (Darrel Norris) and Husband (Dorwin Hay). Naomi is survived by her daughters, Kay Hay (Jerry Clifton) and Joy (Cliff) Hoover, grandchildren, Whitney (Kelly) Craiglow and Tanner (Kristy) Hoover, great granddaughter, Henley Naomi Hoover, and several nephews and nieces.
