Norbert V. Spencer, 81, of Commercial Point, OH went home to be with his Saviour on Monday, January 3, 2022. Norbert was born on July 9, 1940 to the late Vergil James and Mary Magdalene (Smith) Spencer in Cumberland, MD. Norbert was a self-employed Piano Tuner & Technician for over 50 years. In his later years, he refurbished pianos with his good friend and fellow musician, Bud McNichols. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Commercial Point and played the piano there for 47 years. Throughout the years, he was involved in different gospel quartets singing and playing the piano and was featured on numerous albums and recordings.
Norbert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley F. (Kaufman) Spencer. Norbert and Shirley met at Memorial Baptist Church as young teenagers. Also survived by children: Sherrie (Tim) Hancock, Pamela (Scott) Edwards, Julianne (Mark) Cymbalak, and Michael (Julie) Spencer; grandchildren: Daniel (Samantha) Hancock, Aaron (Kayla) Hancock, Lynn (Stephen) Mathews, David (Nicole) Hancock, Jesse (Tracey) Edwards, Joel Edwards, Heidi (Brian) Hayes, Lindsey (Dheeraj) Charles, Conlan Cymbalak, Braydan Cymbalak, McKindsey Cymbalak, Andrew (Julia) Spencer, Amelia Spencer, Mason Spencer, Maxwell Spencer; great-grandchildren: Ariee Jacobs, Aria Mathews, Cres Mathews, Rosalin Hancock, Isabella Hancock, Raylan Edwards, Henley Hancock, John Hancock, Coleman Hancock; and brother Philip (Sara) Spencer.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, January 7th and on Saturday, January 8th at 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Greg Lonsway at Faith Baptist Church, 10701 Welch Rd., Commercial Point, OH 43116. Interment will follow at Beckett Cemetery, Commercial Point. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church. Due to COVID, masks and social distancing are encouraged.
