Rev. David E. Clarke, 68 passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at home in Circleville, OH. He was born on December 10, 1954, to Charles Kenith and Joyce Virginia (Carpenter) Clarke in Columbus, OH. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam 1972-1976. Rev. Clarke graduated from the Ohio State College Barber Styling in 1978; The Ohio State University in 1988; and the Institute of Jewish-Christian Studies in 2004. He did graduate work at The Ohio State University and Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, IN. He was a Barber Stylist for many years in various locales including the west side of Columbus, Circleville, and Ashville. David was a bi-vocational minister for many years in many differing offices and ministries. He was a Pastor, a Poet, and an Author. He authored: “The Grace of God”, “Eclectic Essays”, “The Valley Where Strangeness Occurs” and “Concerning the Christ”.
David is preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Clarke, niece Melissa Dawn Clarke, and foster sister Tricia.
David is survived by children Shaun Clarke, Myrriah Clarke (Spencer Rider) and Miranda (Adam) Moncznik; brother Leonard (Linda) Clarke, sisters Carolyn Beatty and Janice (Alan) Whaley; foster sister Shelley; sister-in-law Sandra Clarke; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
Per David’s request, cremation will take place. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, August 12th followed by a Memorial Service with AMVETS at 4:00 p.m. at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103 with Rev. Tom Stewart officiating.
