Robert J. (Jim) Dixon, 76, of Circleville, Ohio, passed away on June 28, 2023. Born October 29, 1946 in Ashville, a son of the late Robert E. and Muriel (Timmons) Dixon. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Sandy (Liff) Dixon. Jim is survived by wife, Rebecca (Turvey) Dixon of Circleville, children, Scott (Karon) Dixon of Ashville, Amy Dixon of Orient, Julyn Carothers of Mount Sterling, three stepchildren, Nora Borland, Sam (Janelle) Borland, Sarah Cantrell, all of Chillicothe, as well as twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Pam (Mark) Harber of Mount Sterling, Larry Dixon of Adelphi, Randy Dixon of Ashville, along with many nieces and nephews.
Jim was a 1964 graduate of Teays Valley High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran, who served in the United States Marine Corps as part of the Hotel Company 2/26 5th Marines division. Jim retired from General Electric Circleville Lamp Plant in 2000.
Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 134, Kentucky Colonels since 1994, lifetime member of Circleville Leatherneck Detachment 340, VFW 3331, AMVETS Post 2256, where he started the Honor Guard and served as the Commander for 20 years. He took great pride in making sure that his fellow veterans received military burial. In 2012, Jim was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame for his dedication and service to Ohio veterans. He served as a volunteer at the Chillicothe VA for many years. Enjoyed camping, alongside his greatest pleasure, fishing.
He was straightforward and everyone knew exactly where they stood in his eyes. He always told it like it was, whether you wanted to hear it or not.

Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, OH 43103 with Reverend Mark Harber. Interment will follow
in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery, Circleville, Ohio.
