Starling C. Mobley, 90, of South Bloomfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born August 28, 1932 near Beallsville, Ohio, the first son of the late Wayne D. and Sylvia L. (Pittman) Mobley. He also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Starling was both an elder and a deacon of the Circleville Church of Christ. He retired with 30 years of service as a Radio Technician from the City of Columbus, Dept. of Communications. He was also a serving member of the Village of South Bloomfield council for several terms. In his retirement he was often found supporting both the athletic and music programs of the Teays Valley School District or be seen photographing nature in the world around him.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Nicky R. (Martin) Mobley (mother of Robin); brothers Holley and Robert; sister Christina Hastings; niece Angela Britton.
Starling is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, DeJon R. (Hart) Mobley; daughter Robin R. (Joel Brown) Mobley of Newark; brother Harold Mobley of Beallsville; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tues. May 16, 2023 at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville, Ohio from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a Service at 11:00 , Dean Manning will officiate. Graveside Service be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Beallsville Cemetery in Monroe County, Ohio.
